I have a new Nephew!!!!

Yesterday at 10:24 a new member was added to the family. My sisters had her first boy, Cian James, and I can't wait to get home and hold him (I mean shake his hand...jk). Thought I would do what I could to add to his scrapbook, and etched his name and date of birth into the sand.

It turned out to be my best penmanship since 2nd grade, I guess the mini sand castle shovel brings out the best in me.

Sunrise on Kailua Beach, Oahu

I wake up every morning at sunrise to catch a glimpse of paradise on earth.

Im not a professional photographer, but I did my best to capture the beauty of this Hawaiian beach.

Koa Wood

Just got to Oahu, and staying at the best beach in the world, Kailua Beach. Walk out the back yard and your smack dab in the middle of an amazing place. It is breathtaking, powerful, and stimulation overload all in one. it is definitely my favorite place. Anyway, I hope to locate some beautiful Koa wood to make some boards out of. It is an amazing wood that is simple and beautiful. Good quality Koa has an amazing curl to it, and has a 3D look. Check back as I will be posting pictures of what i find on the Island soon. Absolutely Stunning

Just finished a very large 4 player down and back Black Walnut cribbage board. It is really really nice looking, the wood is gorgeous, it is extremely natural and rustic looking. It still has bark on it and an amazing light and dark grain pattern that changes from rounded and curly to wavy and straight. I has all the colors including different shades of gray between the light and dark wood variation.
Its 20 inches long by 8 inches wide by 1.25 thick. Has a built in peg hole for all the 8 pegs and a nice peg plug to keep them from falling out. The pegs are custom made wood and are colored red, black, dark walnut, and natural. They complement and help to keep the board extremely simple and the focus on the Black Walnut board itself.

Flat Tire

Came home last night and thought that the car felt like it was riding a little rough, so i checked the tires and sure enough I had a flat tire on the rear passenger side. I was a little worried that I had been driving on it for a while and that the tires sidewall would have been ruined. So I filled it up this morning and to my surprise it held. Drove it to Schwabs and had them find out what was goin on, and I guess the problem was a nail. the really really great part about Schwabs though is that if you bought your tires from them (like me) then stuff like this and rotating your tires is free. And that is a really nice feeling. So needless to say I'm "On the road again"

2 Player board

Just finished making my first 2 player competitive style board yesterday. It measures 16L by 3.5W by 17/18 deep and is african mahogany. I made it larger to accommodate an ease of playing on it and I also spaced the peg holes a little farther apart. i like the look a lot and it takes away all confusion as each player has their own side of the board to peg on.

I love how simple this style of board is. Its not busy at all, and I really like having the ability to play with up to 4 people. Just gives you the option, in case you have a big family or lots of friends who enjoy the game.

More African Mahogany

These are the other boards that I couldn't post below. they are all different in many ways, and all really cool and fun to play on. They are a great conversation piece and a must have if you are a leisurly game player or a coffee/tea shop regular. Cribbage is a game of both luck and strategy, but I think its the fact that the game is a great way to catch up, relax, have some fun, and get to know people that makes it such a fun game to play. It just makes doing all of this better when you have a beautiful custom board with which to do it.

African Mahogany Cribbage Boards

Here are a few African Mahogany Cribbage Boards i've finished. They are all different lengths and a couple different playing styles including a 3 player continuous board and my favorite which is the 4 player simple down and back style. Each board has very unique and beautiful grain patterns which makes each of the boards one of a kind. It also doesn't hurt the one of a kind idea since they are all hand made from rough lumber. I love the way this wood has a little bit of waviness and at some angles looks translucent.

Pop's B-day

Happy Happy Birthday Daddio!!! had fun tonight goin out to dinner with the family minus one, but definitely brought here in via conversation and memories. Its weird how were all grown up now, and except for me have our own families and such. But thats the name of the game I guess. Its just Dad has moved from just being Dad to being grandpa and father-in-law now as well. Life just keeps getting more complicated and serious the older you get, but for this evening (and for me much of the time right now) we all got to just relax, spend time with each other, and just love and hangout with one another. And especially show Dad that we absolutely love him, and we appreciate him and what a blameless and Godly and strong charactered man and father he has been throughout our lives. Love you Dad. Happy Birthday Pop.
